Tuesday's streaking and slumping starting pitchers

STREAKING

Kyle Kendrick, Philadelphia Phillies (8-9, 4.01)

Kendrick has put together a string of four consecutive wins, only surrendering four earned runs in his last 29 1/3 innings pitched. He looks to keep the momentum going with a tough road start in Cincinnati on Tuesday.

Eric Stults, San Diego Padres (5-2, 2.45)

Stults surrendered an unearned run over six innings to pick up the win over the Braves in his last outing. The lefty has pitched well since the All-Star break, going 4-0 with a 1.86 ERA. His next scheduled start is against Clayton Kershaw and the Dodgers.

SLUMPING

Tommy Hanson, Atlanta Braves (12-7, 4.45)
Hanson gave up four runs, three earned, over 4 2/3 innings as the Braves fell 8-2 to the Padres Wednesday. “Big Red” surrendered 10 earned runs in 15 2/3 August innings and hasn’t got his velocity back on his fastball since returning from the disabled list. He tries to turn things around at home against the lowly Rockies next time out.

Jaime Garcia, St. Louis Cardinals (3-6, 4.52)

Garcia struggled Thursday, allowing six runs in just 5 1/3 innings against the Nationals. The left-hander hasn’t picked up a win since May 16, although he did miss significant time with a shoulder injury this season. He gets the ball at home against the Mets next.
