STREAKING
Kris Medlen, Atlanta Braves (8-1, 1.64)
Medlen saw his consecutive scoreless innings streak end at 40 2/3 innings Saturday but he still picked up the win in the Braves' 11-3 victory over the Mets. The right-hander has been one of the best hurlers in the bigs during the second half of the season and has picked up wins in each of his last six outings. He takes the bump in Washington for a key divisional matchup against the Nationals.
Bronson Arroyo, Cincinnati Reds (12-7, 3.66)
Arroyo allowed one run over seven innings and was the winning pitcher Saturday against the lowly Astros. The righty continues to cruise, posting a 5-0 record over his last six starts. He takes the hill in Miami next.
SLUMPING
Daisuke Matsuzaka, Boston Red Sox (1-5, 7.20)
Matsuzaka will make at least one more start for the Red Sox, reports Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe. The right-hander has yielded 11 earned runs over his last five innings pitched and toes the rubber against the Blue Jays on Friday.
Bruce Chen, Kansas City Royals (10-12, 5.36)
Chen gave up five runs over six innings against the White Sox on Saturday. The lefty was lit up for three home runs in the outing and has now allowed seven homers over his last two starts. He faces the high-powered Angels next time out.
