STREAKING
Kris Medlen, Atlanta Braves (6-1, 1.71)
Medlen dominated the Padres, tossing eight innings of shutout ball while striking out nine in Tuesday's win. The right-hander has won four straight and hasn’t surrendered a run in his last 28 1/3 innings pitched. His next start is at home against the Rockies.
Johnny Cueto, Cincinnati Reds (17-6, 2.48)
Cueto picked up his MLB-leading 17th win against the Diamondbacks on Tuesday, giving up just two runs in solid innings. The righty is 8-1 over his last 10 starts with a 2.69 ERA over that span. He toes the rubber at home against the Phillies next.
SLUMPING
Jason Vargas, Seattle Mariners (13-9, 3.90)
Vargas gave up six runs (five earned) on eight hits in Wednesday's 10-0 loss to Minnesota. The lefty has given up six runs and hasn’t lasted five innings in each of his past two starts. He takes the bump at home against Boston on Monday.
Joe Saunders, Baltimore Orioles (0-1, 10.13)
Saunders was ripped for seven runs in 5 1/3 innings during his Orioles debut Wednesday. The veteran left-hander has been lit up for 21 runs in his last 15 innings pitched and will try to turn things around in Toronto next time out.
