Ellsbury next to leave Boston?

The Boston Red Sox, having sent three prominent players to the Los Angeles Dodgers last week, could continue their on-the-fly revamp by shopping the talents of centerfielder Jacoby Ellsbury over the offseason.
Ellsbury, a free agent after next season, is due another raise via arbitration this winter after he earned more than $8 million in 2012. ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney told WEEI in Boston that trading Ellsbury s even more difficult because hes a Scott Boras client. Clients of Boras rarely sign extensions -- Carlos Gonzalezand Jered Weaver are two notable exceptions -- so any team trading for Ellsbury would essentially be renting him for one season.
Olney also said he believed the Sox would approach Boras about a new deal for Ellsbury before fielding calls to trade the former MVP runner-up.
Ellsbury, 29 next week, hasn't performed this year and spent time on the disabled list, but a strong 2013 and his free agent price tag could easily exceed $100 million, perhaps significantly more.
