Rays' Price scratched from start
Tampa Bay Rays pitcher David Price has been scratched from his scheduled start on Saturday when the Rays square off with the Texas Rangers for the second installment of a three-game set.
Price felt unusual soreness in his pitching shoulder after his last start on Sunday, when he earned his AL-leading 17th victory after giving up two runs on six hits and four walks over 6 2/3 frames against the Toronto Blue Jays.
A former first-overall pick back in 2007, Price has pitched to a 17-5 record with a 2.54 earned run average and 175 strikeouts in 27 starts.
The Rays recalled pitcher Chris Archer to make Price's start on Saturday.
Archer has gone 0-2 in two starts with Tampa Bay this season, despite a 3.86 ERA and 14 strikeouts in 11 2/3 innings.
