Mike Napoli, who has been out a month with a quadriceps injury, is nearing a return, reports Evan Grant.
Once he's ready to be activated, the club says Napoli and Geovany Soto will split time at catcher, and Napoli is likely to get some time at DH and possibly first base, too, at least as long as he's hitting the ball well, something he hasn't done consistently this season after a monster 2011.
Soto has not hit much since joining the team, but he has had some good trips to the plate, making the pitcher work and he's drawn some walks and played satisfactory defense. Napoli could wrestle away some time, however, if he gets hot like he did a year ago.
