Friday's streaking and slumping starting pitchers

STREAKING

Matt Moore, Tampa Bay Rays (7-7, 4.01 ERA)

Moore tossed 6 1-3 scoreless innings to pick up the win against the Angels Saturday. The lefty has been impressive over his last three starts, allowing just four earned runs over 19 1-3 innings while recording 16 strikeouts. He puts his 1.86 ERA since the All-Star break on the line versus the Orioles at home in his next start.

Ryan Vogelsong, San Francisco Giants (8-5, 2.22 ERA)

Vogelsong surrendered two runs (one earned) over six innings during Sunday's 4-0 loss to the Dodgers. The effort marked Vogelsong's 16th straight quality start and he's been quality in 18 of 19 starts this season. The hurler will make his next appearance against the Rockies at Coors Field.

SLUMPING

Justin Masterson, Cleveland Indians (7-9, 4.47)

Masterson was lit up for 10 runs (eight earned) over 5 2-3 innings and took the loss against the Twins Saturday. The righty started the contest by tossing three scoreless frames before imploding in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings. Masterson has a 6.05 ERA on the road heading into his next start in Detroit.

Jeremy Guthrie, Kansas City Royals (0-2, 9.58 ERA)

Guthrie fell to 3-11 on the year after giving up six runs on 11 hits over 5 1-3 innings against the Mariners Friday. The righty was also touched up for five runs in his Royals debut on July 22 against the Twins and it shouldn’t be long before the club tires of him and calls up another pitcher from Triple-A. Guthrie has to find a way to turn things around against the high-powered Rangers Friday.
