Injury that shouldn’t be overlooked
Jayson Werth wore a walking boot as he walked out of AT&T Park on Monday night and will undergo an MRI on Tuesday. The Nationals outfielder was scratched 45 minutes prior to first pitch because of tenderness in his right ankle. Werth had the same nagging injury in spring training.

Betting news and notes
New York Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie may get the chance to play at wide receiver this season because of injuries to the club’s receiving corps. Cromartie took part in individual drills with the receivers at practice Monday and said he is “learning the steps and trying to learn more about the position.”
Red Sox right-hander Andrew Bailey is expected to be activated off the disabled list Tuesday. Bailey will assume the setup role temporarily to ease him back into action and Alfredo Aceves will maintain his role as the team’s closer.
The Braves expect to activate Tommy Hanson from the disabled list Friday and send the right-hander to the mound that night against Los Angeles. Atlanta manager Fredi Gonzalez said starting Friday, the Braves will use a six-man rotation for the rest of August.
The Cincinnati Reds have won four of five matchups against the Mets this year, limiting New York to three runs or fewer in all four wins.
