Lohse priced out of St. Louis?

The St. Louis Cardinals extended the contract of Jake Westbrook earlier this week, but the club has yet to approach right-hander Kyle Lohse about coming back to the team in 2013. Lohse is in wait-and-see mode, but as Joe Strauuss writes, may be priced out of town.
Lohse, 33, is in the final year of a four-year deal that paid him just north of $10 million per season. Given how well he's pitched this season -- 13-2 W-L, 2.61 ERA, 1.08 WHIP -- Lohse is in line for substantially more than the one-year, $9.75 million deal Westbrook just received.
With pitching prospects such as Shelby Miller and Carlos Martinez on the way -- Miller could be ready by the start of 2013 -- the Cardinals may be better off spending money on the middle infield and outfield, which would make Lohse one of the more attractive free agent starters on the market this coming offseason.
Lohse, however, is keeping an open mind.
