Pettitte eyes September return

Andy Pettitte, last seen on the Yankee Stadium mound in late June when he broke his fibula, seemed to be sending out some mixed signals Sunday as to when he will be back in the rotation.
While Pettitte still targets a September return, the lefthander tells Matt Ehalt ofESPNNewYork.com he "has no idea how this thing will feel when I lift up and try to raise my leg and put all my weight down on the mound."
Pettitte, who had another X-ray on Sunday, still isn't ready to throw off a mound.
Pettitte's health is a bigger issue given that the Yankees did not add another starter by last week's trade deadline. Freddy Garcia, has been Pettitte%u2019s replacement and is 3-3 with a 3.95 ERA since taking over, including a win Sunday over Seattle.
