Wednesday's streaking and slumping starting pitchers

STREAKING

Tim Hudson, Atlanta Braves (11-4, 3.45 ERA)

Hudson gave up one unearned run on four hits over 7 1/3 innings against the Astros on Friday. With the win his career record against Houston improved to 5-0 over seven starts. He’s 4-0 with a 2.30 ERA and a over his last four outings and faces the Phillies next, a team he shut out for seven innings on July 6.

Chad Billingsley, Los Angeles Dodgers (7-9, 3.74 ERA)

Billingsley allowed a single run on four hits with seven strikeouts over seven innings against the Cubs on Friday. Billingsley has picked up the win in all three starts since coming off the disabled list with an elbow problem and has posted a 0.89 ERA with a 13:3 K:BB ratio in 20 1/3 innings over that span. He'll look to keep the momentum going when the Dodgers host the Rockies.

SLUMPING

Justin Masterson, Cleveland Indians (7-10, 4.78 ERA)

Masterson was ripped for seven runs on 10 hits over four innings of a 10-2 loss to Detroit on Friday. The righty was dinged for eight earned runs in his previous start against the Twins and has seen his ERA inflate to 4.78. Masterson boasted a respectable 3.92 ERA on July 1. He toes the rubber at home against the Twins next time out.

Jeff Francis, Colorado Rockies (3-4, 6.02 ERA)
Francis surrendered six runs on nine hits in just 3 2/3 innings against the Giants on Saturday. It was the second straight start in which Francis failed to make it to the fifth inning. Opponents are batting .325 against the lefty and his role may in jeopardy if he can’t string together a few good starts. He draws the Dodgers in his next outing.
