Chacin's return

Colorado Rockies right-hander Jhoulys Chacin is slated to make one more rehab start for Triple-A Colorado Springs and the plan is for him to rejoin the big club next week, the team tweeted Monday afternoon.
Chacin, who is scheduled to throw 85-90 pitches Thursday, may or may not be used as a starter when he returns, as skipper Jim Tracy has implemented a four-man rotation and could stick to it through the end of the season.
Chacin, however, could take the rotation spot of lefty Drew Pomeranz, at least temporarily, as the rookie is battling chest soreness and could have his start pushed back or simply skipped one time through.
If used in relief, Chacin is likely to be one of the starter-like relief options for Tracy, capable of going three-plus innings as much as twice in a week. Tyler Chatwood appears to be the most likely candidate to move to the 'pen to make room for Chacin in the rotation, if that is what Tracy and the Rockies brass decide to do. As far as the roster spot is concerned, one of the nine relievers appears likely to head to Triple-A until at least September 1 when rosters expand.
