Oakland coming up short

Cliff Pennington is hitting .199 on the season. Adam Rosales is the proud owner of a .195 batting average. Eric Sogard and his .167 batting average and just went on the 15-day disabled list with a bad back. All three started at shortstop for the Oakland Athletics this past week, highlighting a huge deficiency in their lineup.
However, trading for some help before the August 31 deadline for playoff eligibility may be difficult. Mike Aviles, are asking too much in return, like Brett Anderson or Dan Straily. These guys are simply off the table.
Perhaps the team might be better off simply throwing Yoenis Cespedes in the infield and seeing what happens. At least we know that he can hit.
