STREAKING
Freddy Garcia, New York Yankees (7-5, 4.68 ERA)
Garcia pitched the Yankees past Texas on Wednesday, striking out six and allowing just two runs over 6 2/3 innings. Garcia's been rolling ever since returning to the Yankee rotation, allowing three or fewer runs in eight of nine starts. He toes the rubber in Chicago against the White Sox on Monday
Miguel Gonzalez, Baltimore Orioles (5-2, 3.38 ERA)
Gonzalez pitched six strong innings Wednesday, holding the Red Sox to two runs on six hits to earn his fifth win. The righty has turned in four consecutive quality starts and has been a pleasant surprise for the Orioles down the stretch. He has a tough road start in Texas next time out.
SLUMPING
Edinson Volquez, San Diego Padres (7-9, 4.31 ERA)
Volquez surrendered six runs and only lasted 3 2/3 innings during Wednesday's 6-1 loss to the Braves. The right-hander has thrown just 13 2/3innings over his last four starts, allowing at least four runs in each of those outings. He tries to turn things around at home against the Pirates.
Ubaldo Jimenez, Cleveland Indians (9-12, 5.62 ERA)
Jimenez was lit up for eight earned runs in Tuesday's loss to the Angels. The former 19-game winner has taken the loss in three of his last four starts and allowed 17 earned runs over his last three outings. He takes the hill in Seattle on Monday.
